How to do Resource planning with Odoo?

You can do your resource planning in the following way:

1) Planning

The role, resources, shifts, operation schedules can be created, managed, and monitored using the Planning module. Let’s discuss its features and functions of it.

2) Scheduling

​By opening the Project module, you can view the timetable being organized in the calendar form on the foundation of the resource. It is very essential to make the scheduling of the works based totally on extraordinary criteria.

Schedules can be grouped and displayed on the foundation of Department, Resources, Role, Sales Order, Sales Order Item, Project, Tasks, Parent Task, and Start Date. To create a new schedule to the calendar, click on ADD button.

3) My Planning

You can visit the My Planning tab from the Planning module.

Additionally, your schedules can be grouped on the basis of Department, Resource, Role, Sales Order, Sales Order Item, Project, Task, Parent Task, and Start Date. The schedules can be seen in Gantt, Calendar, List, and Kanban view.

4) Open Shifts

When the employee responsible for taking the shift could not finish the project on time, any other employee can bounce into the shift and finish the activity. Such shifts are acknowledged as Open Shifts.

If you prefer to permit the employees to unassign themselves from the assigned schedules, you can enable the Allow Unassignment option from the Settings option.

5) Resources

In Odoo Integration you can configure and create new resources. These resources can be selected while creating new schedules.

To create and view the resources of the company, pick the Resources choice from the Configuration tab. The listing of the resources alongside their Working Time is shown.

By selecting the CREATE button you can add a new resource to the list. A new row will appear where you will have to enter the Name of the resource, set the Company, and choose the Working Time. You can crew the resources on the foundation of Type, Company, and Working Time.

6) Roles

To create and view these roles, you can select the Roles option from the Configuration tab. The list of roles along with their Resources and Services are displayed. For adding a new role to the list, select the CREATE button.

A new row will be created, where you can enter the Name of the new role, at the Resources field you will have to select the employees who will be assigned with this role and choose the Services that will be performed by the creating role.

7) Shift Templates

To view or create new shift templates pick out the Shift Templates option from the Configuration tab. The listing of current templates is displayed along with their Role, projects, and task. 

By selecting them from the list you can view the important points such as which Role can be assigned with the shift, the Project, and the Task that can have the schedule, the Start Hour of the timetable, and the Duration of the agenda in hours.

You can create a new shift template by selecting the CREATE button. On the new shift, the template page filled up the details of the shift being created, such as the Role, Project, Task, the Start Hour indicating the time on which the shift will be starting, and the Duration Hours.

8) Planning Analysis

One of the most important features of Odoo is that it provides analytical and graphical reports of the actions recorded in every module.

You can group the result on the basis of Department, Resource, Role, Sales Order, Sales Order Item, Project, Task, Parent Task, and specific Start Date.

You can view the report in Pivot, Graph, Gantt, List, and in Kanban view as per your requirements.

In the Kanban view, you get the planning sheet of each employee with Time, role, draft, or published separately.
